The American Hockey League begins a new season tonight as 14 teams face off from Abbotsford to Providence and everywhere in between.

Opening weekend kicks off with 27 games between tonight and Sunday to start the league’s 77th season.

Match-ups tonight include inter-state competition between Syracuse and Rochester, plus games between Milwaukee and Grand Rapids and Manchester and Providence, all at 7:05 p.m. Bridgeport vs. Connecticut, Oklahoma City vs. Lake Erie and Worcester vs. Norfolk are also on the schedule. Rounding out the night will be Peoria and Abbotsford on the west coast.

Action continues Saturday at 1 p.m. with the second of back-to-back Oklahoma City vs. Lake Erie match-ups. Toronto begins its season at home against Rochester, Albany begins against Manchester, and there’s plenty of other action to keep up with – the only teams who don’t play Saturday are the Connecticut Whale and the Milwaukee Admirals.

Six more games on Sunday round out the weekend before the league takes a break on Monday.
