Team, Player Of The Week

The inaugural team of the week was a tough one to decide on, as a couple teams had very good weekends, but no one totally stood out. Except for Boston University. The Terriers squeaked by Wisconsin and then Notre Dame to win the Icebreaker in St. Louis. Joe Periera led the way on Friday with a pair of goals, including the game winner  just into the 3rd, against the Badgers. He kept going on Sunday with a goal, but it was Sean Escobido who had the game winner with just over a minute left.

Runners up: North Dakota, Boston College, Union

Our player of the week is Minnesota’s Jay Barribal. On Friday night the Senior captain had a goal and an assist in helping Minnesota to a win over UMass, but he outdid himself on Saturday with a  first period natural hat trick. For the weekend he was 4-1-5 as the Gophers went to 2-0 this weekend. They have a slightly tougher test with Nebraska-Omaha coming to Mariucci.

Runner up: Kelly Zajac, Union.
